Dilli Haat is a shoppers paradise. A joint collaboration between the New Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Department, the basic idea of setting up this crafts bazaar was to promote the Indian handicrafts industry and Indian cuisine.
The word haat denotes an informal weekly market or bazaar that is held in the rural areas of India. Dilli Haat near AIIMS is a unique, upgraded and a much more sophisticated version of a haat.
Delhi Haat is the best place to seek all the handicraft items. Translating literally, it is the craft bazaar of Delhi. Located near to All India Institute of Medical Sciences and opposite to INA Market, Delhi Haat gives a complete variety of food plaza and taste of cultural traditions of India. Stalls of crafts from corners of India showcase here.
Some of the shops here are permanent and many other are on rotational basis, usually fifteen days. There is an exhibition hall inside the complex, which promotes handicrafts and handlooms.
Apart from these, there are several stalls where you can get to savor Indian food. The Dilli Haat has a food plaza where you can get to taste the culinary delights from the different parts of India. Food festivals are often held over here also from time to time.
