Lady Irwin College

This girls’ college was founded in 1931 under the patronage of then Vicereine Lady Dorothy Irwin. The campus is spread over 16.5 acres in the heat of the city, which makes it easily accessible. It is one of the only two college offering courses in home science in DU.

It aims for holistic development of women students, and their capacity building through carefully designed academic programmes and extramural activities.

High standard of education is maintained in pedagogical strategies and course structuring by the faculty members. The curriculum is internationally competitive. The college hopes to improve the talent and nurture creativity among its students for playing positive role in the society.

Principal Dr Anoopa Siddhu says:
“Education in this college aims towards capacity-building and building scientific temper. This year, the college will offer courses in semester mode. We expect that students have preparedness to keep pace with courses and assessments. Practical component will provide adequate skills and consolidation of theoretical concepts. Have a meaningful, value-based and holistic education and be an lrwinite!”

Lady Irwin College: Facilities
It holds a mega annual festival – Quintessence- that has inter-college competition in drama, music, dance, fashion show, art. It has various societies for the students to showcase their talents; NSS, debating society, fashion show, literary, dramatics, sport, spic macay and eco club, etc. the college has a placement cell too.
