The institute of home economics was founded in
1961 to provide wider
educational and professional avenues. The institute, which moved to its present building in 2001, is one of the only two colleges to offer
home science education.
The Institute has a very
well qualified and experienced faculty, instrumental in giving high standard of education to the students. The faculty has been actively involved in research work which has been recognized worldwide and been published in foremost publications in the respective fields. The faculty also participates in
national and international conferences, seminars and workshops and has technical and professional affiliations.
The Institute offers facilities for

Institute of Home Economics College: Facilities
Departments have been interconnected, enabling students to access
online information on attendance, assignments, exam schedules and results. The library has been
fully-compterised The College also has a fully-equipped audio studio for
radio training and production. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and has ramps and a lift for the differently abled. There is a spacious,
air-conditioned conference room.
