A museum is a place where you can go and can see things which have historical significance... although "significance" is vastly different for different people Or A museum can be define as a institution that has a collection of artifacts and other objects that have scientific, artistic, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits them that may be permanent or temporary. Most large museums are located in major cities throughout the world and more local ones exist in smaller cities, towns and even the countryside.

National Rail Museum
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi
The museum has a wide and varied collection of rare and antique steam locomotives, carriages, saloons and other railway artifacts from the British Colonial Era. It has both live exhibits (75) as well as working/non-working models in its indoor gallery. A small rail museum is alongside.

             April to September - 9.30 am to 7 pm.

National Philatelic Museum
Daktar Bhawan, Sansad Marg
The headquarters of India's postal service. It displays rare stamps that were in use in the olden times and those that are used today. The National Philatelic Museum also has a collection of international stamps, apart from the Indian ones.
Open 9.30 am - 12.30 pm & 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
Closed on Saturday and Sunday. Entry Free.

National Museum of Natural History

It is maintained by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, with an aim to promote environmental education and create awareness among the people.

Today, it have its possession over 2,00,000 works of exquisite art, both of Indian and Foreign origin covering more than 5,000 years of our cultural heritage.

Crafts Museum
Pragati Maidan, Delhi
The Craft Museum houses a range of very rare and exquisite artifacts that are the only remnants of ancient India. In the premises of the Craft Museum, there are also numerous shops that sell local handicrafts.

Tibet House Museum
1 Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, Delhi
The Tibet House Museum depicts the history of Tibet, their rich culture, art and tradition. The museum is an archive for the books on Tibetan culture and art.
