LED backlight technology is not the same as CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)backlight technology. With LED backlight technology, it is possible to make the TV slim, like a picture frame on the wall. There is an enhancement in colour disply and contrast, hence superior picture quality. LED backlight technology is capable of delivering a color gamut of 105% to NTSC Standards, solving the problem of the low 72% NTSC which had frequently been cited as a major weakness of CCFL LCD displays.
