Pumpkin Pachadi Recipe

Pumpkin pachadi is a traditional Kerala-based dish which is easy to make and healthy. I learnt this recipe from my mother.

Pumpkin Pachadi Recipe:Ingredients

  • Pumpkin – 300 gm
  • Coconut, grated – 1 cup
  • Red chillies – 4
  • Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
  • Tamarind – small ball
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch

 


Cooking Method-

  • Boil yellow pumpkin in tamarind water and add salt and turmeric powder.
  • Allow it to boil for 10 minutes till the tamarind's raw smell fades.
  • Grind coconut, red chillies and mustard seeds into a fine paste.
  • Add the paste to the boiled pumpkin and cook the mixture for five minutes.
  • Season mustard seeds, red chillies and asafoetida and add to the mixture.
  • Garnish with curry leaves.
