It is one of the most common diseases caused by mosquito. Female Anopheles mosquito carry malaria parasites, when they bite someone then those parasites enter to his body & cause malaria. These parasites later on enter to the lungs & multiply & spread through out the body through blood vessels. People with weak immune system & those who are living in unhealthy living conditions are more susceptible to malarial attack. Every year thousands of people suffer from this disease all over the world.
Malaria prevention needs to be approached from two fronts: protecting against infection and reducing the development of the disease in infected people.
Symptoms of Malaria: There are number of symptoms by which one can easily finds the type of disease. Patient suffering from malaria experiences a severe cold even during the hot climate. In fact this is the first symptom, or the initial stage experience, of malaria. Despite of feeling severe cold, the body temperature raises high & causes severe body pain, headache, vomiting & some times unconsciousness. Some patients experience extreme weakness & frequently reach to the state of unconsciousness. Patient may also suffer from jaundice & lack of blood in the body.
Causes of Malaria: Malaria is caused by many reasons but the major one is that it can attack people living in unhealthy condition. Malarial mosquitoes grow in unhygienic places. Change in climate & temperature, attack of parasites, moving from one place to another are other reasons for malaria.
Preventive Measures: Prevention is the best cure to malaria besides this it can be treated with some prescription drugs. The CDC recommended malaria drugs include:
• Atovaquone/proguanil
• Chloroquine
• Doxycycline
• Mefloquine
• Primaquine
Home Cure for Malaria:-
• Apply cold pack to the whole body to reduce temperature. The pack should be replaced after every 3 hours and should be kept for an hour.
• Apply hot water bottles to the sides of the body and feet.
• Grapefruit has beneficial properties against malaria. Boil a quarter of grapefruit, strain its pulp and use it.
• Cinnamon is effective against malaria. Coarsely powdered cinnamon is boiled in a glass of water with honey and a pinch of pepper powder.
• Fast on orange juice and water 7-15 days. After fever subsides adopt an exclusive fruit diet for 3 days. Then embark on a well balanced diet.
• Alum (roasted and powdered) provides relief. It should be taken 4 hours before the attack is expected and every 2 hours after that.
• Lime and lemon are beneficial too. Juice of 1 lemon should be mixed with 3 grams of lime and 60 milliliters of water. This water should be taken before the onset of fever.
