How to Prevent Dengue Fever

Dengue fever, also called dengue, is a potentially serious disease caused by a virus. There are four types of dengue virus that can cause illness in humans. Dengue viruses are transmitted between humans by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Dengue fever is an acute viral infection characterized by extreme fever, headaches, joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting and a rash. Most cases of dengue fever are relatively mild, but some can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever, which is fatal in about 5 percent of cases. Since dengue fever often occurs while traveling, here are some things to keep in mind in case you come down with the disease while abroad to avoid return of dengue
 
Symptoms of Dengue Fever: Symptoms of typical uncomplicated dengue usually start within 5 to 6 days after a person has been bitten by an infected mosquito. Some common symptoms are:
  •  High fever
  •  The fever may reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit
  •  Severe headache
  •  Pain behind the eye
  •  Severe joint pain
  •  Severe muscle pain
  •  Nausea
  •  Rash
  •  The rash may appear over most of the body 3 to 4 days after the fever begins.
  •  A second rash may appear later in the disease
  •  Vomiting

 
Causes of Dengue fever:
  • Dengue fever can be caused by any one of four types of dengue virus: DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4.
  • A person can be infected by at least two, if not all four types of the dengue virus at different times during a life span
 

Preventions: First of all hospitalization and intensive care is required for people who suffered from dengue fever. Besides some other steps which one should have to taken like:-
  1. The only treatment for dengue fever is resting and drinking plenty of fluids.
  2. Take acetaminophen but Aspirin and Ibuprofen should not be used, because they are anticoagulant (inhibit blood clotting).
  3. Stay away from mosquitoes when infected with dengue fever. Seek immediate medical attention if dengue fever progresses into dengue hemorrhagic fever.
  4. To treat dengue hemorrhagic fever, inter-venous fluids and often blood transfusions are needed.

Pain relief medications:
  • Acetaminophen
  • Codeine
  • Pethidine - in severe cases
  • Calamine lotion - for rash
 

Home Remedies to cure Dengue fever :-
  • Dhatura is the ayurvedic name belladonna homeopathic it is a potential medicine.
  • Consumption of diluted orange juice helps in indigestion and strengthens immune system.
  • Consumption of fresh extracts of papaya juice to cure the disease.
  • Application of neem tonic on body works well to fight the situation.
  • Herbal syrup made of kakamachi herbs need to be consumed in two cups amount everyday.
  • Consumption of basil leaves decoction helps curing the fever.
