It hasbeen ensured that seats for children from economically weaker sections in nursery schools are filled completely, Delhi government today decided to keep open the admission process for them beyond March 31, which is otherwise the last day for enrolment.
This is for the first time that the city government has taken such a step to ensure that the vacant EWS seats are filled even after the admission process is over. According to officials, the admission process will be over by March 31 after which the Education Department will conduct a review to check whether any seats in EWS category is vacant.
Once the review is conducted and if it is found that there are vacant seats in the category, then the government will advertise these seats. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Lovely warned that the government would cancel the admission process of any school that is found violating guidelines by asking details of educational qualification and financial status of parents. As the admission process for nursery classes began yesterday, Lovely also asked deputy directors of each zone to visit schools in person to check whether the admission process was going on the right track.
"Seeking details about the educational qualification and professional details (financial situation) is violation of the guidelines. If we get such complaints, we will cancel the admission process in such schools," he told reporters here.
