Soon Delhi university will maintain students' attendance records on Website and provide solution to all the attendance-related problems of students. According to which teachers will have to submit their daily logs and the same information will be uploaded on varsity's website, the same day.
The initiative has been taken after the recent uproar about short attendance of more than 400 students, the majority of whom were not allowed to sit for the exams.
Teachers and students blamed the policies of administration for the last-minute calculation and notification of attendance.
While few colleges like Dayal Singh removed the name of about 90 students from attendance roll, other colleges like Miranda House let the students appear for exams after giving warning.
With the new system, all students will be aware of their attendance status and no one can escape on the ground of last minute notification.
An official said that anyone with less than 40% attendance cannot be allowed to appear for exams and will have to look forward for admission next year again.
However, in the recent case colleges took different actions. Some colleges allowed students to take exam on the condition that they will make up for attendance shortage in next semester. On the other hand, there are colleges which did not let students appear for exams.
The new system will ensure uniformity at all levels and no special consideration will be required for anyone.
