General information about DU :-
Academic Session:-
The University academic year is divided into 3 terms
Annual Examinations:-

• Undergraduate Courses {Formal Stream/Category ‘A’} - First week of April.
• Undergraduate Courses {Non Formal Stream/Category ‘B’} - Delhi Centres - Second week of May / Other than Delhi Centres - Third week of August
• Post Graduate Courses - Last Week of March / First week of April

Internal Assessment:- The main examination is of 75 marks while the 25 marks are for the internal assessment. For internal assessment the 25 percent marks are divided into three parts : 10 percent weightage is given to the written assignments/tutorials/project reports/seminars; 10 percent weightage is assigned to the house examinations conducted by each college and departments for the main subjects in honours courses and all papers in pass courses; 5 percent weightage for attendance which will take into count the regularity in attending lectures, tutorials which is :

• More than 67% but less than 70% - 1 marks
• 70% or more but less than 75% - 2 marks
• 75% or more but less than 80% - 3 marks
• 80% or more but less than 85% - 4 marks
• 85% and above - 5 marks

Eligibility:- In order to take admission under the colleges of DU you are required to pass the qualifying examinations, that is, the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of CBSE Board or any other examination of its equivalent standard. If you want to get admitted to the first year of undergraduate courses under the colleges of DU, then you have to obtain minimum marks as per the requirement of admission process of respective courses.

Age Limit:- For admission to under graduate courses there is no minimum age bar. But in the professional courses, which are regulated by regulatory bodies like MCI, AICTE, etc, you are needed to fulfill the prescribed minimum age limit criteria.



Delhi University (DU) has added several new features to its admission process:-
To ensure greater transparency in admission to DU colleges through sports quota, DU is centralizing the trial procedure of students seeking admission through sports quota. In other words, candidates need not appear for trials in individual colleges but before the university committee. The trials are supposed to take place in the third week of June.
A real-time web chat has been introduced for students on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4pm to 5pm. 2000 questions and answers have already been framed and would be made online shortly.

DU has also increased its number of seats in its colleges. It will now offer 54,000 seats out of which 27,000 are general, 14, 000 OBC, 12,150 SC/ST and the remaining in different categories like sports and physically challenged.

Documents Required :-

• Character and migration certificates from the institution last attended
• Certificate of date of birth (normally the secondary school certificate)
• Subject-wise mark-sheet of the last public examination
• SC/ST certificate where applicable
• Certificate of having passed the lower Hindi test (if exemption from compulsory test in Hindi is sought)
• Medical fitness and participation certificates for admissions on the basis of sports and extra-curricular activities
• Three copies of a recent passport-size photograph
