Girls once again outshone boys in the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 examinations, results of which were declared Monday in seven regions across the country.
The pass percentage of girls was 86.93 percent, compared to 77.83 percent for boys, a CBSE spokesperson said.
The total number of candidates who appeared this year was 7, 70, 043, and 9.85 percent more than last year.
2011 is also the year when a majority of schools under CBSE opted for the school-based evaluation system, in which the students will get grades for their exams, and not marks.
In Delhi, the pass percentage stood at 85.45 per cent.
The results were declared across the country on Monday except Patna region, with the total pass percentage standing at 81.71 per cent, an increase of 1.84 per cent over last year, said a statement issued by the CBSE.
